Roan Millspun has been around for over 2 years now. Each year I gather wool from small family farms to create this unique small project. The Corriedale wool is sourced locally to me here in northern Minnesota from Strawberry Ridge Farm and the Cormo is sourced from Kurth Valley Fiber Mill/Farm in Wisconsin. It is then spun in Wisconsin. This blend of wool creates a gorgeous bouncy yarn that is perfect for cables and colorwork alike (bits of foliage included).
This is also the only yarn base that I have named something special. It just seemed appropriate that I drew inspiration for Roan from my own beautiful blue roan filly (young female horse). Roan means having a coat of a main color thickly interspersed with hairs of another color. So this yarn actually has a small content of colored wool to create a base yarn that is a warm gray. This gives the overall yarn a depth of shade you can’t get from white yarn.
